Tin Pan Tuesday. What’s that all about? A great fun way to taste lots of Spanish, Native American or Mexican-influenced foods. Think small plates, but served on tin pans. Share with others at your table or order your own personal mix of favorites. It’s a popular event from 4-9pm every Tuesday at Cafe Ole in the Brookside district of Tulsa.
We sat in the enclosed patio area, right next to the welcoming fireplace. It had a great casual vibe and we felt at home right away. Wheelchair accessibility is limited to the small inside seating area or the sidewalk tables they had set up. There is a step up to get into the enclosed patio area, but it looked like the most fun to me, so my family boosted my wheelchair up the one step. You could still enjoy the experience from inside or the sidewalk tables. It can be a small crowded space, so it will be easier to get your wheelchair positioned if you arrive earlier. While they do have a restroom, it is not accessible.
There are 11 items to choose from for their Tin Pan Tuesday promotion. They are all $2.50 so you can mix and match any way you want. Chicken or beef street tacos, pork belly sopes, cheese or pork tamales, albondigas estofados, gorditas, empanadas, roasted chile molletes, huarache picadillo, and casitas Milanese de pollo. My favorites were the street tacos and house-made tamales. My family was pretty crazy about the little meatballs- albondigas estofados. Everyone said to be sure to try their queso. It is not part of this tin pan promo but you really need to taste this. It is different from any other queso we have ever had. We’d go back just for that.
So what are you waiting for? It’s Tuesday! If you are lucky enough to be in Tulsa, head on over to 3509 S Peoria Ave. Cafe Ole will be waiting for you.
