“This land is your land, this land is my land.” 🎶
Sound familiar?
While many people know the classic song, not many know who wrote it. Those words were the work of Woody Guthrie, an American folk singer, who is celebrated at the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here the songwriter’s work is in the spotlight!
With plenty of interactive exhibits, a fully accessible experience, and heartfelt music everywhere, the Woody Guthrie Center is sure to deliver entertainment and information! Parking is easy to find in nearby city lots or along the street, and once inside the entry, you’ll be directed by the friendly staff toward the elevator.
My favorite part was the VR experience, which let you feel what life was like in 1930s Oklahoma during the massive dust storms that engulfed the state. I’m sure you’ll also love seeing Guthrie’s notes from his songwriting days and artistic doodles while exploring the timeline of his life through music stations. I spent hours exploring and could easily go back again to learn even more.
The Woody Guthrie Center is easy to find at 102 E Mathew Brady St in Tulsa. Do you have a favorite Woody Guthrie song?
