Did you know that the tow truck was invented in Chattanooga, Tennessee? I didn’t until I visited the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame & Museum. Most people only end up having stressful experiences with tow trucks when they’re facing a roadside emergency. So this museum offers a close encounter with tow trucks that is “fun, positive, and nostalgic”. Inside you’ll find a number of towing vehicles from various points in history. While we typically can spend a few hours in most museums, we found this to be a pretty quick visit for our family. But I can see this being a great place to bring the truck fans in your life! My favorite parts of the display were actually the vintage toy trucks and pedal cars.
This place earns major points for how accessible it was. There wasn’t a single part of their entire facility that I couldn’t easily access by myself. So anyone with a mobility issue should know they can explore the museum as much as they want without concerns.
Thanks so much to the Chattanooga Tourism Co. for making this visit possible.
