A Mother of a Market!

A Mother of a Market!

Mother Road Market. If it is less than perfect weather out, this is a great place to hang right along Route 66, aka ”the mother road”. Bright and fun, with all sorts of great and unique food, with shops to check out when you can pull yourself away from the food. They even have a huge patio area to gather and chill in. I can’t decide if I like the inside with the hustle and bustle, or the sofas and comfy chairs on the covered patio best. You will want to check them both out.

  • The patio has a huge section with artificial grass, surrounded by traditional tables with chairs and booths, or clusters of cushioned seating areas with enough space for all your crew. There is even a fun Route 66-themed mini golf along the perimeter. See how many miniature versions of roadside icons you can identify! You will order your food inside, then take it with you on trays to whatever seating you choose. Unless of course, you spot the vintage airstream trailer permanently parked along the patio. They have a rotating selection of food truck entrepreneurs that set up in the trailer. There are plenty of seating areas, but this is a popular spot so it does get noisy and crowded and some might find it a bit overwhelming- especially on weekends.

  • So what’s inside? Amazing food and cool stuff to buy and take home. Hand-crafted pet supplies, Greenwood Ave. apparel, and fair trade gifts. But back to the food. So many great choices and they are local choices, not the national brands you see in every food court. Mexican street food. Sushi, ramen, and bubble tea. Barbecue brisket and ribs. Small batch ice cream. Nashville “hot chicken”. Baked yummies, pizza, and nostalgic burgers. Brazilian choices, comfort food, or new brunch favorites. And even more. Good luck deciding!

Mother Road Market is a wheelchair accessibility win! Long gradual ramps anywhere you could need them, both inside and out. Placard parking spots both in front and in back. Wide aisles that can be good for all sorts of disabilities. The restrooms had the space needed for wheelchairs, but I do not remember seeing “family restrooms”.
