Once you’ve been to Aretha Frankensteins, you’ll WANT to start getting up early for breakfast.
Aretha’s pancakes are famous. They are “insanely great” in fact. Super thick and yet fluffy, full of buttermilky goodness. We even picked up a box of their famous pancake mix to recreate them back at our Airbnb. We loved everything we tried from the omelet to the bacon, to the biscuits, but especially their blueberry melange. You’ll want to spread this stuff on everything!
Their decor is so retro and fun. Vintage cereal boxes, concert posters, and even a skateboarding skeleton hanging from the ceiling! They pack a lot of funky atmosphere into a tiny space. It’s a bit of a hidden secret in the NorthSide Chattanooga community.
Wheelchair accessibility? Shockingly good for a small space. You’ll grab a parking spot along the street and then make your way up the hill on the sidewalks. Once you reach Aretha’s, there is a ramp that leads you to the front porch of this converted old house. There is a lower patio that requires steps, but over half of the space can be accessed with wheels. The restroom should be able to handle any manual chair, but I think it might be a bit too tight for a power chair.
They cook everything from scratch in a tiny kitchen, so come when you can sit back and relax, and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
