Mad Priest Coffee Roasters was on my list of “must visit” coffee shops as soon as I got to Chattanooga. When I realized how close their Broad St location was to our Airbnb, we knew we would be picking up their delicious drinks more than once.
Why are they mad you ask? They’re mad about injustice, especially societal inequality… and bad coffee. So they’re on a mission to fix these issues. On their website, they invite you to “journey with us as we learn to walk in empathy, pursue justice, and play a small part in creating a better, more curious world.” From the beginning, they’ve made it their goal to be a responsible, socially aware for-profit business that includes social and environmental goals alongside the economic ones.
So not only do I love what they stand for, but I also LOVE the drinks they’re serving up. The space is wheelchair friendly, except for a small seating counter that requires a step up. But otherwise, this grab-and-go coffee shop is an easy place to grab a great morning treat. You can park on the street, in the small lot to the right of their entrance, or if you’re staying nearby just roll up the street like I did! As a bonus, they also have a second location where they do their roasting, which features a drive-thru.
