When I heard about a place that combines art with community support, you know I had to check it out! Right on Main St in Chattanooga, the Hart Gallery is making a difference. All the art inside was created by creative people often marginalized by society. They’re supporting those experiencing homelessness, living with a disability, veterans, seniors, and more. Painting, collage, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry… the mix of art goes on and on. And it’s all available for purchase.
They have an open studio space incorporated into the middle of the gallery, so their artists can build community while they create. I especially love how they display each artist’s name alongside their story.
The gallery is located at 110 E. Main St, and both the front and side doors are wheelchair accessible. There is a small paid parking lot on the side, and plenty of metered street parking nearby.
If you’re in Chattanooga, you need to check them out.
